The young Frenchwoman hopes to leave these Olympic Games with a medal.
For the first time in history, break dance is making its appearance in the 2024 Olympic Games. At just 16 years old, Sya Dembélé is setting out to win a historic medal. Coming from a family that knows how to move well with Drissa, the father who is a member of Doni Doni, an African percussion group and Cindy, the mother, who gives African dance classes at the Maison des jeunes et de la culture (MJC) des Tilleuls in Saint-Étienne, the Frenchwoman was probably made for this sport.
As Le Parisien mentions, Sya discovered battles at the age of 7, in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. In 2016, during the Battle of the Year, one of the most important international competitions, she appeared in the final against all the best in the world. A great training for the young woman who learned her trade before winning two bronze medals at the European Championships in May 2023 and then at the World Championships four months later, enough to give her wings for these Paris 2024 Olympic Games ?
