Next week, the government is expected to present a new law which means that a register will be introduced of the actors behind companies, foundations and other activities.
The registry should make it easier for prosecutors to find sanctioned assets, reports say Sweden’s Radio Echo.
Since the war broke out in February last year, Switzerland has been heavily criticized for making it too easy for Russians to circumvent the sanctions imposed on Russia after the invasion of Ukraine.
Among other things, the criticism has been that the country took too long to depart from its traditional principle of neutrality and was pressured to introduce sanctions against Russian individuals and companies.
The new register should make it easier to implement these sanctions in practice.
