The country began to experience difficult times due to the intense targeting of energy networks in Russia’s attacks on Ukraine. In the statement made by the Ukrainian electricity company Ukrenergo, it was announced that due to the excessive density in the active electricity networks, it was switched from planned power outages to emergency power cuts. Accordingly, it was stated that the electricity was cut off as of 6 am in the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, as well as in Chernihiv, Cherkasi, Jitomir, Sumi, Kharkiv and Poltava. In the statement, it was stated that the hourly cuts were programmed as daily cuts, while the electricity company employees were working 24 hours a day to fix the problems.
The agency also reminded that such restrictions are needed to reduce the load on the grids, ensure constant balancing of the power system and prevent repeated failures after the grids were damaged by Russian rocket attacks and drone attacks. In addition, the Ukrainian electricity company advised the Ukrainian people not to use elevators in order not to suffer from sudden power cuts, but did not publish a list on which regions the electricity would be delivered to.
