Swiss guard tasked with protecting Pope Francis fainted

During Pope Francis’ weekly speech at the Vatican, the Swiss Guard tasked with guarding him fainted. The officers lifted the fainted guard and led him out of the Paul VI hall, where his speech was held. A Vatican spokesperson explained that the guard “had fainted, probably as a result of low blood pressure”.

Temperatures in the Vatican were predicted to reach 36 degrees today. The Swiss Guard consists of Roman Catholics, Swiss citizens and a team of 135 people aged between 19 and 30 with a minimum height of 147 centimeters. Guardians are required to be celibate during their 26-month tenure. (UAV)
