Swimming: Sarah Sjöström close to her own world record in the 50 meter freestyle: “Good receipt”

– They feel very good and I have received a good receipt before the Olympics, which is very nice, says Sjöström to the Swedish Swimming Federation.

The Swede smiled widely in the sunshine afterwards. She switched grips halfway through and out to runner-up Michelle Coleman, swimming the lane next door, which was clocked in 24.59 and set up a Swedish double victory.

Considering butterfly in the team race in the Olympics

It was the third competition record in Rome for Sjöström, who received the best possible receipt before the Olympics in Paris in a month, where she is considering butterfly in the team race.

– There are five, six weeks left and we just have to try to stay on this wave, says Sjöström, who will spend a lot of time in Stockholm and working in the garden.

– Then it will be right into the Olympic bubble, smiles Sjöström, who has swum six of the eight fastest races in the event.

Initial training has had an effect

The swimming association’s head coach Antonio Lutula was satisfied with what he experienced in Rome.

– She has worked a lot with the start and it’s nice that it shows in the competition. She is with the first 15 meters and that gives a sense of security before the Olympics, says Lutula.
