“Utrecht has been linked to water for centuries. We want people to be able to continue to enjoy Utrecht’s city water now, but also in the future. To relax, do business, play sports and enjoy,” says alderman Susanne Schilderman. “Together with various users of the city water, we reconsidered how we use the water and how we deal with it in a growing city. Where possible we create new possibilities such as extra outdoor swimming locations, but sometimes it also means setting boundaries. Think of one-way traffic on the Oudegracht in the long term and mooring permits for a definite period of time.”
