Swimming: Louise Hansson took WC bronze in the 100 meter butterfly

Before the World Swimming Championships in Qatar, Louise Hansson, 27, had, among other things, three European Championship golds on the long course and three European Championship golds on the short course, but “only” a World Championship silver in the 4×100 meter medley in 2015 on the track record from the long course World Championships.

But now she also has an individual medal in a long-distance WC.

Second fastest in the trials

On Monday afternoon it was a WC bronze in the 100 meter butterfly. Hansson, who was second fastest in the trials and fourth fastest in the semi-finals, was thus third in the final.

– So nice, finally, she said to SVT Sport, a few minutes after the final.

Germany won gold

She was third at the turn and held that spot all the way to the finish. She finished in a time of 56.94, 66 hundredths behind the German Angelina Köhler, who stood on the podium for the favorite pressure and took gold.

The American Claire Curzan took silver in a time of 56.61, and Australia’s Brianna Throssel was fourth – just three hundredths of a second behind Hansson.

– In the final, you swim for the medals, and the hundredths were on my side, so it was great to get them with you, says Hansson with a big smile, and continues:

– In terms of time, I know there is so much more, but right now I don’t care.
