Zheng Qinwen, 19, however, started the match in the best way. After 82 long minutes, she shocked the Polish world set and won the first set with 7-6 in tiebreak. Before that, Swiatek had won 20 straight sets.
– She played incredible tennis, her overscrew was so good, said Iga Swiatek after the match.
Then the Chinese were hampered by a thigh injury and forced to take a medical break.
When the match resumed, Iga Swiatek clearly turned in her favor with 6-2 and 6-0 to take home the win.
The Polish have not lost since February and won five straight titles.
– I’m just happy to be in the tournament after the first set, Swiatek said.
