Swedish woman murdered in pharmacy in Norway

Police officers and an ambulance rushed to a pharmacy in central Arendal, in southern Norway, at half past ten on Tuesday morning. A woman had been found badly injured in the street outside a pharmacy where she worked.

Attempts to save the woman’s life failed. Police initially weren’t sure she had been killed, but on Wednesday it was announced that a homicide was being investigated.

No arrests

No one has been arrested and there are currently no suspects.

— The perpetrator is still unknown to the police. Based on preliminary information, it cannot be ruled out that the dead person is an accidental victim. The police are working at full strength to sort this out, says Vanja Bruvoll at the police in Agder county.

It has not been announced how the woman died.

According to the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, the woman is a Swedish citizen, but the police in Norway do not want to confirm that. The victim’s next of kin have been notified of the death.

Arendal is located on Norway’s south coast and has roughly 40,000 inhabitants.
