This year’s WC series has been marred by tire problems. Ahead of this weekend’s race in French Anneau Du Rhin, Swedish Cyan Racing now chooses to withdraw from the season altogether. This as the risks for the drivers are considered too great.

“It is simply not possible for Cyan Racing to continue the season safely,” says team manager Fredrik Wahlén in the press release.

The premiere in Germany was canceled entirely after safety could not be guaranteed.

At the last round in Italy’s Vallelunga, Cyan driver Yvan Müller crashed at over 220 kilometers per hour after new tire problems, after which the team pulled out again.

Cyan’s car is the heaviest in the starting field, which, according to the team, contributed to them being particularly hard hit by the tire problems.

Cyan Racing has won both the team and driver titles two years in a row. Three sub-competitions remain in this year’s season.
