Swedish supporters after the shooting in Brussels: “Completely absurd”

Two Swedish citizens have been killed, Belgian police confirm. Both should have worn Swedish national team jerseys, according to local media.

Martin is on site at the arena and tells how they were reached by the news.

– There is no communication at all. It will be a very absurd situation, we will come here and know nothing and then everyone will see on their phones what has happened. You are taken by it in some way. It gets serious when we are not allowed to go out, no one is allowed to go out, he says.

He also tells what awaits next for all Swedish fans.

– Actually, we have only been told that we should stay here now, that we should take off our Swedish shirts. We have a bus that stops right outside. It’s absolutely absurd, sports have nothing to do with this.

How are you?

– There are any number of text messages, everyone cares about one. It’s nice to be able to see that people care about you, he concludes.

“It is absolutely not wise”

Pär Nyberg from Umeå is also there and talks about the situation.

– I am not particularly worried, he says.

But he wants to emphasize one thing.

– It is not wise, it is absolutely not wise. It was thought that you could be a supporter in a sporting event and then be exposed to terrorist threats, it is not wise, he concludes.

During SVT’s live broadcast, you could see that the Swedish supporters were escorted into the press room.

Here, Swedish supporters are taken to safety in the press room.
