Swedish successful skater Tilda Johansson’s nasty accident – has ruined the whole summer: “It was very difficult”

Tilda Johansson was a huge success last season.
Then the inevitable happened in the summer.
– It has been a very difficult summer, says the 24-year-old to SVT.

Almost exactly a year ago got Tilda Johansson his big breakthrough in Swedish biathlon. When the young Swede outshined all national team skiers and world stars by winning the Swedish premiere at Idre Fjäll.

Tilda’s big success

The great success then continued for the rest of the season when Tilda excelled week after week in the IBU Cup, the level below the World Cup. The 24-year-old exceeded many expectations when she finally won the overall IBU Cup.

Before the new season, the plan was for Johansson to step into the World Cup and take further steps to reach the absolute top of the world. But then came the nasty accident that changed everything.

The nasty accident

During a training camp in Mallorca in May, the successful Swedish biathlete crashed his bike and suffered a persistent concussion. Which had major consequences for the entire pre-season.
– On a hill, I somehow lost control and tumbled forward and landed on my head, Tilda Johansson tells SVT Sport.
– More or less the whole summer has been affected. It has been a very busy summer.

The 24-year-old was not allowed to train for several weeks and after a longer absence she was allowed to start training lightly.
– It was mainly cycling indoors, it worked for 15-30 minutes. I had a few setbacks here and there, you want a lot so you test the limits, says Johansson in the interview.

Today, she is completely symptom-free and can train to the full without setbacks. But it is clear that the conditions were not optimal before the World Cup premiere in Östersund, where she got a free place thanks to the overall victory in the IBU Cup.
– I am very grateful for that free place. When I came back I didn’t have to feel any stress either. It’s a little dream come true to be able to go to the World Cup on home soil, she says to the TV channel.
