Swedish success when New Jersey defeated Anaheim

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Jesper Bratt scored his first goal of the game after 10:53 in the first period. Anaheim defenseman Cam Fowler tangled with a bouncing puck, Bratt pushed past, dragged the puck with him and placed it between the goalie’s shin pads. The goal meant 2–0 to New Jersey.

In the middle of the second period, it got away when Bratt got the puck served to the right of Anaheim’s goal and with some quick cuts made his way around the box and pulled into a 4-0 lead before neither John Gibson in the goal nor anyone else on the home team could react.

At the beginning of the third period, Jesper Boqvist got the chance. A butter pass from teammate Damon Severson freed Boqvist, who pulled away, took aim and resolutely slammed in 5–1.

Jesper Bratt highlighted the importance of the collective after the match:

— When we have a team that plays like this and we are careful with the details, it usually goes well individually as well, he said in an interview on New Jersey’s website.

San Jose went on a rampage against visiting Edmonton, winning 7-1. Oskar Lindblom had to score the home team’s consolation goal with five minutes left in the game.

Winnipeg beat Pittsburgh 4–1.
