Swedish success in the Tour de Ski – Frida Karlsson and Jonna Sundling with top positions at the start of the hunt

Pleasing results for Frida Karlsson and Jonna Sundling.
But Linn Svahn lost to leading Jessie Diggins.

It happened during the hard-to-drive chase start in Davos.

Before the Tour de Ski’s second chase start of 20 kilometers, the standings were in the overall Jessie Diggins in top, followed by Lynn Svahn in second place, Jonna Sundling as third and Emma Ribom in fourth place.

Karlsson & Sundling

However, it was not based on the total that the start times were based on in today’s chase start, but after Wednesday’s sprint, which Linn Svahn won. However, the starting order did not matter much, as the winner and the result were based solely on times, and not on who crosses the finish line first.

And it was the Finnish Kerttu Niskanen who got the best time and thus won the start of the chase. But from a Swedish perspective it was mostly Frida Karlsson and Jonna Sundling’s placements which were most interesting. The stars took fifth and fourth place and are climbing in the overall. Frida is now fifth, 58 seconds behind the leader Jessie Diggins. Sundling remains in third place.

Svahn loses

After Wednesday’s victory in the sprint, it was Linn Svahn who was first out at the start of today’s chase. But the 24-year-old encountered problems during the race. Linn had to change sticks on two occasions and received a verbal warning for a technical violation. Svahn finished 20th, dropping from second to seventh overall.

It was also a tough day for several other Swedish women. Moa Ilar, Emma Ribom, Maya Dahlqvist and Johanna Hagström lined up in place 34–37 after the ride in the difficult track. Sofia Henriksson came 23rd.
Niskanen had the Americans with him on the podium Rosie Brennan (second) and Jessie Diggins (third). Diggins thus retains his lead ahead of the finish in Val di Fiemme.
