Swedish skiers will become the fastest in the world – with the help of new research at LTU

The collaboration has been ongoing since 2021, both in the ski and snow lab at LTU and out on the ski slopes. It is about careful tests of everything from wool to various grindings.

Doctoral student Gustav Hindér and Johan Wåhlström, development manager at the national biathlon team’s vale team, have recently been in Italy to test different sharpenings on skis.

Important for the results

The same grindings are now being tested at Ormberget in Luleå.

– It is a big part of our work and the results, says Johan Wåhlström.

How much of a difference can it make?

– We see it in the World Cup time and time again. If you don’t have good, equivalent material to the best, you will end up behind, says Gustav Hindér.

In the clip, you will hear more about what difference the research can make for the Swedish national skiing teams.
