The production of Swedish wood products continues to increase. Despite higher transport costs and inflation that make construction appear to be declining, the war in Ukraine has had a positive effect on sawmill production, as imports of Russian timber to Europe have declined. One of the companies that is noticing an increase in demand is Stenvall’s wood in Sikfors, which has four sawmills in Norrbotten. – There is a lot of pressure on wood, we saw everything that only had time, says saw operator Fredrik Pettersson. Last year, the Swedish sawmills broke production records and during March this year, the largest deliveries ever were achieved for a single month, according to the forest industries’ latest market report.
