After in-depth analyses, Svenska kraftnät announces that there is an opportunity to offer an additional 500 megawatts in capacity withdrawals by 2030, to supply the large planned industrial investments in Norrland. This ends up on top of the 2 gigawatts in increased withdrawal that Svenska kraftnät said it was ready for in 2022.
But that is not enough, according to Gustafsson.
“In order to meet the large power needs, it is not enough to simply expand the transmission network. Other measures are also required. One is that consumption becomes more flexible than it is today. During stressful situations, consumption must be able to be regulated so that the network does not become overloaded and to be able to meet the weather-dependent production,” he says in the press release.
New investments in electricity production are also required, both weather-dependent and predictable, according to Gustafsson.
