The Swedish police present significant tightening of entry into the country’s football main series Allsvenskan matches. We want to tighten security checks this season. Police require that the match from 2026 will only be accessed by personal tickets.

Corresponding practices are already valid for major international events in both football and many other sports

– Such requirements have come from the European Football Association (UEFA). The matter is now in the hands of the Swedish Football Association, head of the Swedish Police Operations Department Per engström told SVT.

Allsvenskan made an exceptional decision last fall when the Stockholm police emptied a derby match between Hammarby and Djurgården between the Tele2 stadium. From Djurgården’s supporter end, torches were spun on the field. Supporters threw various fireworks exploding in the field.

The match was watching a full stadium, 30,000 spectators. The interrupted battle was played in the closed doors the next day.

Currently, only superficial security checks are performed at the gates of Allsvenskan matches. This facilitates different types of pyrotechnics and explosives.

According to the Swedish Football Association, there are technical and economic challenges for the tightening of the police. Before final decisions, we want to negotiate with the police.

The Swedish Allsvenskan season started on Saturday.
