Swedish police can start patrolling in Norway

Norway wants Swedish and Norwegian police to be able to patrol together, says Norway’s Minister of Justice Emilie Enger Mehl (Sp) to TV2.
During the day, she is together with Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M) in Copenhagen to discuss cooperation against the gangs.

The proposal is one of several measures to combat increased gang crime.

– We will ensure that the police to a greater extent have joint efforts and joint patrolling with the Swedish police. It is something the police themselves have signaled that they want, says Mehl to Norwegian TV2.

The minister is in Copenhagen to participate in a meeting with Sweden’s Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer and Denmark’s Peter Hummelgaard.

Norwegian police have also decided that people from the national criminal police, Kripos, will be placed at the National Operative Department (Noa) in Sweden.

A collaboration on increased exchange of intelligence information between the countries has begun and Denmark will join the collaboration in the autumn.

– We see room to move the positions forward, Gunnar Strömmer tells TT.
