Swedish police are on site in Rafah at the border between Egypt and Gaza to, among other things, carry out background checks on Swedish citizens and persons with residence permits in Sweden who have made it to the border crossing.

“We also help to quickly investigate more difficult cases, such as children born to a Swedish citizen in Gaza who lack travel documents,” says Per Engström, head of section at Noa, in a press release.

The police also take up reports of missing relatives.

Since November 12, around 350 Swedes have so far made it to Egypt via the border crossing in Rafah, according to the police.
