The government does not exclude Swedish peace troops to Ukraine, says Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard in P1 morning.
– Now we must first negotiate a fair and sustainable peace that respects international law, which respects Ukraine and which above all ensures that Russia can not only retreat to build new strength.
– Once we have such peace in place, then we must ensure that it can be maintained and then our government excludes nothing, says the Foreign Minister to the radio.
Maria Malmer Stenergard’s press secretary Susan Vo Bergqvist tells TV4 News that this is not the first time the government has announced peace troops to Ukraine.
Lightning call for meeting
The UK has also opened to send soldiers to Ukraine, stated the country’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer in The Telegraph yesterday.
“Everything that ensures Ukraine’s security also ensures the security of our continent, and the security of our country,” wrote the British Prime Minister.
Today, a lightning -called meeting is held between European leaders in Paris, on the occasion of US play that Europe can be closed out of peace talks on Ukraine.
