Mother Yasmine and her two daughters lived in Gaza and were all victims of airstrikes against the area on Monday, which AI buddy was the first to tell about.
Their father Ahmed is a Swedish citizen and lives in Gothenburg. The older of the sisters had managed to get her Swedish passport.
TV4 Nyheterna has been in contact with Ahmed’s cousin who says that the father is too shocked to appear for an interview but the family has approved that the name and picture be published.
– I don’t know what to say about what happened, says Ahmed The evening paper and tells us that the sisters and their mother will be buried in Gaza on Tuesday.
Memorial in Gothenburg
On Tuesday, a memorial service is also held for the three deceased family members at the mosque in Angered, in Gothenburg.
The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs cannot confirm the deaths, but writes that they have received the information and are investigating it.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received information that people with connections to Sweden have died in Gaza, and the Swedish Consulate General in Jerusalem is investigating the information. Deaths abroad are among the most sensitive cases that the Foreign Ministry has to deal with.”
“Out of consideration for those involved, matters relating to deaths abroad are handled very carefully and the work follows a routine which, among other things, requires that deaths abroad can be confirmed by local authorities. In the current situation, this is very complicated. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in contact with relatives.”
