Memorial in Gothenburg

The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs cannot confirm the deaths, but writes that they have received the information and are investigating it.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received information that people with connections to Sweden have died in Gaza, and the Swedish Consulate General in Jerusalem is investigating the information. Deaths abroad are among the most sensitive cases that the Foreign Ministry has to deal with.”

“Out of consideration for those involved, matters relating to deaths abroad are handled very carefully and the work follows a routine which, among other things, requires that deaths abroad can be confirmed by local authorities. In the current situation, this is very complicated. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in contact with relatives.”

Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has ordered the Palestinian Gaza Strip with its roughly 2 million inhabitants to be besieged after the terror-labeled Hamas attack on Saturday, in which Israeli soldiers and hundreds of Israeli civilians were killed.
