Letting the environment coincide with nutrition and energy issues is a climate investment – not the other way around. That was one of the answers that climate and environment minister Romina Pourmokhtari (L) offered when she came first in this week’s Swedish ministerial marathon in Brussels.
– The biggest part of this new super ministry is the environment. We simply want to give a boost to these issues, Pourmokhtari answered when she was asked in the European Parliament’s environment committee on Monday about the ministry merger that was made after the new government took office this fall.
Pourmokhtari is one of a total of 14 Swedish ministers who appear during the week in various EU parliamentary committees in Brussels to answer questions about this spring’s Swedish presidency of the EU’s Council of Ministers.
On Tuesday, among others, Foreign Minister Tobias Billström (M), Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson (M) and Energy and Industry Minister Ebba Busch (KD) will be heard.
The committee hearings will also continue next week and in early February.
