Swedish Mimi 21 stuck in Floridas worst hurricane in

During the night of Thursday, October 10, Hurricane Milton is expected to move in over Florida in the United States. Evacuation orders have been issued along the entire west coast of Florida.

The president Joe Biden underlines that residents should take the evacuation orders seriously.

– If you have been ordered to evacuate, you must evacuate now, now, now. You should have already done that. It’s a matter of life and death and that’s no exaggeration, he said during a press briefing at the White House, according to SVT.

– I was evacuated on Sunday and have since been outside an evacuation zone. My roommate and I have gone to her house which is about 40 minutes from Downtown Tampa. My friend is American and grew up in Tampa so we are currently at her house with her family, Mimi tells News24 and continues:

– We are in a safe house because we had a few days to evacuate, so we have had time to put up windows, bring in furniture, and fix everything.

Where Mimi is, right now, it’s too risky to leave. The US authority has urged the local population of Tampa to stay indoors as the storm is expected to move in overnight.

The roads around Florida are full of traffic, says Mimi.

– The authorities say that if you stay in Tampa you can die. They urge people to write names and surnames on their bodies if you disappear or pass away so that you can be identified.

A few weeks ago, the storm Helene swept across Florida. Even then, several houses were flooded and carried away by the currents.

With Hurricane Milton comes even stronger winds and rain.

– I am super grateful that I get to be with my friend and her family in safety. We will get strong winds and an incredible amount of rain, and we hope that the house can handle the strong winds, you never know. I mainly hope that everyone manages in this scary and unclear situation, says Mimi to Nyheter24.
