Swedish McDonald’s founder Paul Lederhausen dead

Paul Lederhausen, the man who brought McDonalds to Sweden, is dead, writes Today’s industry.

“Earlier today I lost my father, friend, pillar of support and eternal source of inspiration,” writes son Mats Lederhausen on Linkedin.

Paul Lederhausen founded McDonald’s in Sweden in 1973 and was CEO until 1993 – when his son took over.

After his daughter Erica Lederhausen died of cystic fibrosis, aged only 16, he also founded the fund that finances the Ronald McDonald House in Sweden. The organization addresses children who are forced to stay in hospital for longer periods.

In 2009, Paul Lederhausen sold the last part of his holding in the Swedish part of McDonald’s, writes Di.
