Best in the regular season.
Best in the playoffs?
Linus Ullmark is celebrated to the skies after the super success in the year’s first playoff game in the NHL.
– He is incredible, says Boston coach Jim Montgomery.
The Boston Bruins’ season in the NHL cannot be joked about. They have broken all-time winning records, points records – and are super favorites to win the Stanley Cup later in the spring. And Swedish Linus Ullmark can be thanked for a lot.
Hero outright
He has been a stable goaltender in the NHL for a few years, but this winter he has had a bit of a giant breakthrough. He has been hailed as the best goaltender in the entire regular season, but at the same time there have been questions about his lack of playoff routine. Ullmark never really got the chance in a playoff game, but now he enters as a given starting goaltender in the Bruins.
But when it came to the first playoff game of the year last night, and the first game of the series against the Florida Panthers, Ullmark was just as good as we got used to all season. The Bruins won the game 3-1 – but at the same time lost the shots 29-32. Ullmark thus saved 31 shots, and it was the 23rd(!) time this season that he did not concede more than one goal.

Highly praised
The struggling Boston Bruins grabbed an early hold on the first-round series, and thank Ullmark for it. On social media, pretty much everyone notes the same thing:
“He is the best in the world”.
Ullmark is the super favorite to win the Vezina Trophy, the prize for the best goalkeeper in the regular season – and if he continues to play like this, he can win several, heavy prizes.
Even in Boston’s camp, Ullmark is thanked for his efforts. Jim Montgomery, coach in Boston, believes that the Bruins’ game left something to be desired, and that the Panthers made it difficult by loading a lot of pucks. But Ullmark resisted almost everything.
– He was incredible! Linus is so cool, calm and plays with great confidence. It helps us, says the coach.
