Swedish hockey is in mourning after the tragic announcement.
Former SHL player Göran Hermansson is dead.
He was only 49 years old.
During his career, he played in the SHL, then Elitserien, for the classic clubs Djurgården, Brynäs, Björklöven and Leksand. But now the terrible news has arrived Goran Hermansson has passed away, he was only 49 years old.
SM gold in 1999
The promising center left Falun to make his debut in the Swedish top flight with Dif as a 22-year-old. Then the moving team went on to Brynäs and then Hermansson helped win the SM gold in 1999.

The career continued to Umeå, where as team captain he led Björklöven up to the Elitserien again. Then three seasons in Dalarna for Leksand before he left the country and became a big hockey profile in Norway.
“Terrible”
Hermansson played nine seasons and 388 games for Sparta Sarpsborg and Stjernen Hockey.
– Of all the players I have played and trained with over the years, Göran Hermansson stands out as one who was truly complete. A wonderful person, family man and teammate. He gave as much of himself when he arrived here as one of the team’s stars as he did when he finished his career at Sparta as a fourth-string player. Göran gave everything for society, no matter what, says the Sparta coach Sjur Robert Nilsén to sa.no.
– This is terribly heavy. All of us in Sparta – and in the hockey family at large – send our warmest condolences to Göran’s family.

After his playing career, Hermansson remained in hockey and became an assistant coach for Stjernen. He was also head coach for Comet Halden in the Norwegian second division before the transfer team went back home to Sweden.

Göran Hermansson was coach for Lions HC in the Swedish division three during his last days in life. The Swedish hockey profile died in the aftermath of cancer and was only 49 years old.
