Swedish Gripenplan to NATO insert over Poland

This is announced by Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M) at a press conference.

From April to June, 6-8 Gripenplan with pilots and service personnel will be based in Poland to patrol Polish airspace and be part of NATO’s air monitoring.

This is the first time Sweden has participated with fighter flights in NATO’s advanced defense.

The government also wants up to eight Gripenplan this summer to protect NATO’s operations in Poland, NSATU, to support and coordinate weapons deliveries to Ukraine. NSATU is in place in Poland with staff, buildings and stands.

Today, the Government submits a bill for the Riksdag to approve such an effort.
