According to a press release from the Swedish Armed Forces, the training will begin in January 2024 and will continue for up to ten years.
The flight school’s fighter pilot students will be trained at the Italian air flotilla 61 Stormo and take place at Galatina air base outside Lecce and Decimomannu air base in Sardinia.
Swedish flight instructors will be sent to both bases to be trained on the Italian school aircraft and its training system. The Swedish flight instructors will then serve as flight instructors at the Italian flight school.
