Swedish brewery is forced to change the name of its

A brewery located in Knivsta had two types of soda that they called “Oaka cola” and “Oaka cola zero”, something that the soft drink giant Coca-Cola protested against, which Siren also reported on.

Knivstab Brewery must change the name of its soft drink

Now the Patent and Registration Office (PRV) has established that the American trademark has special protection and considered that the brewery in Knivsta’s soda can be confused with Coca-Cola.

Both in terms of how it is written and pronounced in English. Knivstabrygeriet will therefore have to drop the names of its two soft drinks.

However, the Patent and Registration Office finds no evidence that the Swedish brewery would have acted in bad faith in its trademark registrations, which Coca-Cola has claimed.

The brewery in Knivsta explains its naming Oaka cola by the fact that the soft drink has a taste of oak, i.e. oak, which meant that they thought the name was both resourceful and appropriate.

The brewery also produces beer

The company Train Station Brewery in Knivsta does not only manufacture soft drinks, but also makes many different types of beer which are also sold at Systembolaget.

The name Coca-Cola has been used since 1886 and is seen as one of the world’s most famous brands.
