Swedish boat in historic America’s Cup

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

“Now a journey awaits where we need to develop quickly and work hard, but the thought of what this will create in the future regarding dreams and opportunities for young girls makes the job feel easy and so inspiring,” says Östling, formerly Kjellberg, in a press release.

The classic America’s Cup was first decided in 1851 and the women’s competition will be decided in parallel with the men’s. Annika Carlunger and Linnéa Wennergren are also part of the Swedish team.

The competition is sailed in the AC40, a twelve-meter long boat with four people on board.

“We are experienced and know each other inside and out. Now we need to fill in with fast girls who are used to the higher speeds. But it will not be difficult to get sailing girls on the project, this is a dream come true for all of us,” says Linnéa Wennergren.
