After Sunday’s loss to Norway in the Handball World Cup, it is clear that Sweden will be in 14th place in the championship.
It was the worst result ever in a World Cup.

It started well for Swedish. After victory against Japan and Chile – and settled against Spain – Sweden won its group. But in the main round everything went wrong. After one in a draw against Portugal, there were two straight losses against Brazil and Norway. Then it was clear that it became “thank you and hello” for the blue -yellow.
Worst World Cup ever for Sweden
Sweden became the second best group fire in the main round and then came in a total of 14th place in the World Cup. It is the men’s worst listing ever in a world championship they have participated in. After the historical failure, many were abandoned in the Swedish camp.

Michael Apelgren appeals for patience
Apelgren says he really believes in his team and he hopes that the players or leaders will not get too much crap at home in Sweden.
– I think we can be good. What I am a little afraid of is that it will blow such negative winds towards us as people, as a leader. Because there is nothing wrong with the players and I hope there is nothing wrong with us as a leader really. But it will be very, very heavy for us. And windy, he says.

Now he appeals to the Swedish people to have some patience with him and with the players, so that they can melt this loss together and get stronger out of it all. The union captain looks towards the next championship, which will be played in exactly one year. Then it is the European Championship at home. Sweden, Norway and Denmark arrange together.
– So what I can appeal about is giving us the chance towards the next championship, so we can really put our mark properly. So you have to slaughter us even more then, says Michael Apelgren.
