Swedes wanted in custody after bombings in Copenhagen

After the explosions at the Israeli embassy in Copenhagen under the yard, two Swedish men have been requested to be detained.
The Swedes, who are 16 and 19 years old, will be remanded in custody at 11 a.m. today.
They are suspected of possessing hand grenades and of having used them, writes Copenhagen’s police prosecutor.

It was during the night of Wednesday that security personnel at the embassy raised the alarm about two explosions. A suspected perpetrator was arrested shortly afterwards near the embassy.

At lunchtime, two people could be arrested on a train at Copenhagen’s central station. The police suspect that hand grenades were used in the crime.

The police found a bag on the platform during the operation, which could be tied to the perpetrators. The police then suspected that there could be a dangerous object in it.

– We will investigate whether they acted on the order of someone else, with someone else or on their own, said Jens Jespersen, police inspector at the Copenhagen Police yesterday.

The Israeli embassy in Stockholm was fired upon on Tuesday, something the Danish police are also looking into.

– It is part of our investigation, it is natural to look at whether we can connect those events, says Jens Jespersen.
