Several Swedes are being treated for injuries after a head-on collision on the Caribbean island of Dominica.

The accident must have occurred at three o’clock, Swedish time.

– We don’t know much about the injury situation for the rest of the group, says Lena Bengtsson, fellow traveler who did not ride the bus.

Eight Swedish tourists were on their way home in a minibus from a fair when a car traveling in the wrong direction collided head-on with the minibus. Several of them are said to have broken bones. The accident must have occurred at 3:00 p.m., Swedish time.

SOS International confirms the accident.

“We can confirm that there was an accident with a minibus on Dominika. We are handling three cases right now, all with Swedish nationality. There are no serious or life-threatening injuries,” writes SOS International in an email to Aftonbladet.

“They are still in the hospital”

Fellow traveler Lena Bengtsson chose to stay at home.

– We don’t know much about the injury situation for the rest of the group. We only know that they are still in the hospital, says Lena Bengtsson, one of the three who did not go to the fair.

– We live in a hostel here that is owned by a Swedish woman. They have arranged the trip to the fair, she says.

“Just wanted to say she was ok”

A group of eleven Swedes are currently spending the Christmas holidays on the island of Dominica through a Swedish tour operator. They have been there for three nights and are going home at the beginning of January.

A relative of Kevin Borgstad came along on the bus.

– She made a quick call and just wanted to say that she was okay before going in for an X-ray, says Kevin.

She is said to have suffered a fractured leg.

– She will be fine. But the driver who was driving was not wearing a seat belt and is said to have a crushed foot.

Aftonbladet has contacted the tour operator for a comment.
