“New British entry rules will affect Swedish citizens who visit the UK from April 2, 2025,” writes Sweden Abroad on his website.
From then on, anyone who plans to visit or intermediate in the UK must apply for Electronic Travel Authorization, ETA, in advance.
The permit is already required for citizens from several countries in the Middle East and other parts of the world.
Anyone who visits Britain, adults as children, will have to pay 10 pounds when the new entry rules come into force. This corresponds to about SEK 135.
This means that a family if four people will have to pay SEK 540 just to stop in the UK.
Since the Swedes like to travel so much to the UK, and London in particular, the new rules mean a major change, according to the travel expert Lottie Knutson:
– It means a cost and more hassle for travelers. I think it will be received with some surprise as it has been communicated so little. It will probably require major information efforts, Knutson has told TV4.
