Last week could News24 Tell that more and more Danes had started boycotting US services and goods. The Facebook group “Boykot Vare from the United States” had several thousand members and a Swedish version had just been formed.
The reason for the boycott is the policy pursued by the recently appointed president Donald Trump.
Since his entry into the White House, he has, among other things, discontinued US international assistance and claimed that Ukraine’s president Volodyyr Zelenskyj is a dictator who is not looking for peace.
The Swedish group “Boycott goods from the United States” Has grown significantly in recent days, from just over 1,000 members to over 40,000 members in just one week.
The group discusses other alternatives to well -known American products and several write that they have transferred their private savings to only Swedish or European funds or shares.
Some that are discussed in the group are which foods and hygiene items are manufactured in the United States. Several have chosen brands such as Coca Cola, Heinz and Oral-B.
Despite this, some of the largest grocery chains in Sweden have not yet noticed anything. When asked if they sell fewer US goods, ICA answers no.
– There is nothing we have at present noticed at ICA centrally, says Kim Engblompress officer at ICA Group, to News24.
Similar answers come from the grocery chain Coop.
