It was on the night of Wednesday that two explosions occurred near the Israeli embassy in Copenhagen. According to the Copenhagen police, the explosions are believed to have been caused by two hand grenades.
Two Swedish men, a 16-year-old and a 19-year-old, have been in custody since Thursday on suspicion of having carried out the explosions. Both are now suspected of terrorist offences, the Copenhagen police state on X.
The evening before the explosions in Copenhagen, shots were also fired at the Israeli embassy in Stockholm. Prosecutor Cecilia Holmbom has confirmed that there is a connection between the shooting and the explosions.

– Unfortunately, the latest developments confirm that the terrorist threat against Denmark is serious. We follow the current situation closely, assess how the overall threat picture is affected and continuously implement the necessary security measures, says Peter Ekebjærg, police inspector at the Danish National Police.
The expanded efforts will take place, among other things, through random checks of vehicles at the border with Sweden via the Öresund Bridge and Germany.
