Janne Andersson has presented her national team squad for the June Nations League, when Sweden will face Slovenia, Norway, Serbia and then Norway again. See the whole squad here!
The next edition of the Nations League begins in June, and this time Sweden has ended up in the same group as Slovenia, Serbia and Norway. During the forthcoming gathering, Sweden will face all these nations – first Slovenia away on 2 June, then Norway at home on 5 June, then Serbia at home on 9 June and finally Norway away on 12 June.
Before the presentation of the troupe, there has been a lot to think about for Janne Andersson. Midfielder Marcus Danielson has thanked himself, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic is reported to have resigned due to his injury problems. Which players come in instead of them?
Now we have Janne’s decision on paper. 25 players are selected. Zlatan, Filip Helander and Albin Ekdal have all resigned due to injury concerns. Reports from Italy say that Zlatan will have an operation on his knee when the season ends, and the hope is that the operation will be able to save his career and enable him to play another season. Because as it is now, where he manages a maximum of 10 minutes per match, there is nothing the striker can imagine finding himself in. Janne also confirms that players like Oscar Lewicki and Jens Cajuste might have been taken out if they had been in better physical shape. You will not see these players if you choose to stream Sweden’s national team in June.
Some minor surprises appear in the squad, and then we think of Kerim Mrabti, Hjalmar Ekdal and Gabriel Gudmunsson. Gabriel Gudmunsson is a player that the Swedish football supporters have long screamed for to join the squad, and it will be interesting to see what he can achieve in a Swedish national team. Hjalmar Ekdal had a fantastic season in Djurgården last year, and has done well this year as well. Mrabti has been in the squad from time to time.
