President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has signed the document confirming Sweden’s NATO membership.

In addition, the information about the acceptance of Sweden’s NATO membership has been published in the official newspaper of the Turkish state. With the publication, Sweden’s membership process is complete for Turkey.

Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson thanks Erdoğan in community service X.

– We have now reached a decisive stage on the way towards full NATO membership, Kristersson writes.

Hungary is the only NATO country that has not yet ratified Sweden’s membership.

Prime minister of the country Viktor Orbán said on Wednesday that he urged his country’s parliament to ratify Sweden’s membership in the military alliance NATO as soon as possible.

Hungary’s parliament is currently on winter break until February 26, but Orbán could call it into emergency session if he chooses.

Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament Laszlo Kover does not see any particular urgency regarding the acceptance of Sweden’s NATO application. He commented on the matter to the Index.hu website, criticizing Sweden for, among other things, that the country has treated Hungary arrogantly.

Kristersson has proposed a meeting with Orbán on February 1 in connection with the European Council meeting in Brussels.

– I agree with you that a more intensive dialogue could be beneficial for our countries, says Kristersson in his letter to Orbán.

Kristersson also says that he agrees to Orbán’s invitation to come to Budapest to discuss issues between the two countries.
