Now comes scathing criticism of the whole country from Sweden.
Already 2019 took Pia Sundhage the big step to South America to take over the great nation Brazil’s women’s national team. The Swedish national team captain signed a contract until 2024 and expectations were high.
Brazil’s fiasco
The goal was to revolutionize the Brazilian national team and rejuvenate the national team that had been so incredibly dependent on the big star Marta Over the years. But the 2023 FIFA World Cup was a pure nightmare for Brazil, who for the first time in 28 years failed to advance from the group stage.

The WC in Australia/New Zealand was a huge failure for Sundhage’s national team and the Swede had to wear the dog’s head. Recently it was announced that the Swede will be fired and the contract will be prematurely terminated.
– Very sad, of course, because we had a four-year contract. Our task was to change the game and rejuvenate the team, but then it is clear that we are all disappointed with the result in the World Cup, says the assistant national team captain Lily Persson to Radiosporten.

Sundhage kicked
But it seems that it is not only Sundhage and her right-hand man Persson who have been forced to leave Brazil’s national team. Well, all of them have really been forced out and it has caused a lot of criticism when the whole of Brazil as a country is now being sawn.
– Brazil is a country where you kick people left and right. Unfortunately, everyone in the women’s department has been fired after this. Also those who worked with the press and administrators. The whole league has had to go, admits Lilie Persson in the interview.
– Then we also understand that if you leave the group, this can absolutely happen. But you try to do your best every day, and then it feels a little unfair.

The Brazilian Football Confederation is now planning to announce Pia Sundhage’s replacement shortly. According to information, Corinthians is the women’s team coach Arthur Elias favorite to take over as new national team captain.
