It was a real thrill on Friday morning when Sweden faced Japan in the World Cup quarter-finals. For a long time it looked like going towards a clear Swedish victory after a secure 2-0 lead, but in the final minutes everything changed.

Japan got a late reduction goal and then when there was 10 minutes of stoppage time, it got extremely nervous at the end. But Blågult managed to hold off and win 2-1 to advance to the semi-finals and fight for the WC medals.

For Japan, it was a heavy defeat as they had impressed before in the WC but now have to leave the tournament. Directly after the final whistle, there were sorrowful Japanese women crying on the pitch.
