Sweden’s great display in the World Cup relay – two blue and yellow teams on the podium and new success for Linn Svahn

Friday’s mixed relay at the World Cup was extremely dramatic.
The teams were followed for a long time during and in the end it was a blue-yellow display.
When Linn Svahn sprinted home to victory for Sweden in a very impressive way.

It was a swinging ski race in the Swiss Goms and the top teams took turns to have the initiative. But when it was decided, one was certain Lynn Svahn ultimately unstoppable.

With a kilometer left in the mixed relay, she was still joined by as well Maja Dahlqvist from Sweden’s second team as of Tiril Udnes Weng from Norway’s first team. Both had no chance when Svahn put in a powerful speed boost towards the stadium.

The 24-year-old was finally able to parade into the goal to celebrate the victory together with the rest of the team: William Poromaa, Frida Karlsson and Jens Burman.

In the third stage, Burman switched to Svahn a full 17 seconds behind the Norwegian second team. But the Swedish sprint star was soon in the race and then in a class of his own.

The Swedish success did not end there. Maja Dahlqvist won the sprint battle against Tiril Udnes Weng and secured second place for Sweden’s second team, which also contained Johan Häggström, Ebba Andersson and Edwin Anger. In the end, Dahlqvist was 8.3 seconds behind Svahn.
– It’s pretty much world class on both teams today, says the Swedish women’s coach Andreas Domeij to Viaplay.
– It is fantastic. How these go together, the jerk that Linn makes and Maja who comes back – they just solve all the different situations today. It’s absolutely fantastic.

This was only the fourth time that a mixed relay was run in the World Cup.
