Sweden’s dream message before the World Cup – the star’s words make everyone cheer straight out: “A great honor”

There will be no playoffs for the Detroit Red Wings.
Then comes a blue-yellow dream message from Lucas Raymond.
– It would have been a tremendous honor with the WC, he says to SVT.

It has long been clear that the Detroit Red Wings will not be there when the playoffs are held in the NHL in a few weeks. And from a Swedish point of view, it doesn’t have to be anything negative. Since before, there are several star Swedes who will miss the playoffs.

Opens for WC games

Erik Karlsson, for example, has been perhaps the NHL’s best back this season, the one in the San Jose Sharks who had a completely miserable season. Elias Pettersson has also said that it is not impossible with the WC, and last night it was clear that his Vancouver Canucks will not reach the playoffs this season.

And now the next star opens up to possibly play in the WC. Lucas Raymond declined last year, but this year the situation looks different. Last year he was one of the top rookies in the entire NHL, and this season he has continued to develop and take his place in Detroit. He has accounted for 39 points in 67 games, but will not play in any playoffs.

“A terrible honor”

And this season, unlike last spring, he is eager to pull on the blue-and-yellow spot.

– Of course it would have been fun to play. I am eager to play, then it remains to be seen at the end of the season how everything is. But I have good contact with the management and it is a great honor to play there, he tells SVT.

It would have been a real boost for Tre Kronor and national team captain Sam Hallam, who is making his first WC for Sweden. There is not much to say that Erik Karlsson will go to the WC, given that he is completely injury-free for the first time in many years, but if Elias Pettersson chose to play, Sweden, just through Pettersson and Raymond, would have one of tournament’s most exciting forward sets.
