Sweden to the semi-finals in the JVM – the 15-year-old(!) became a great match hero

On Thursday, the 15-year-old helped push Sweden to the semi-finals of the Junior World Cup.

Sweden settles for the medals in the JVM in ice hockey in Vantaa, Finland. It is clear after the 4-1 victory in the quarter-finals against Switzerland.

15-year-old Ebba hero

One of the players behind the promotion was the blue-yellow squad’s youngest: 15 years old Ebba Hesselvall.

Hesselvall scored her first goal of the tournament the other day when she decided the end of the group stage against Japan with just seconds left in extra time. In the quarterfinals, she posted her second, a heavy 3-0 numerical advantage midway through the second period.
– It has been tough to get into the pace and level. But I still think I’ve gotten into it now and am starting to produce a little, Hesselvall told SVT after the second period.

USA or Canada

She was the big surprise when the JVM squad was presented. As recently as last fall, she scored points for Södermanland in the TV puck, but despite her young age, she is already showing that she has qualities that hold up internationally.

But much tougher challenges are likely to await this weekend.

Most suggest that either the USA or Canada will be the opposition in the semi-finals on Saturday.
