Tesla may be the most polarizing car brand in Sweden, thanks in large part to its controversial CEO Elon Musk and the protracted conflict with the trade union IF Metall.

Sweden’s best-selling car
2024 has been a tough year for new car sales. New registrations have fallen by 6.6 percent compared to 2023 according to figures from Mobility Sweden.
Even if the year is not quite over, however, it is already clear that the Tesla Model Y will end up at the top of the sales statistics, according to figures obtained by Carup.
To date, over 17,000 Tesla Model Y units have been sold in Sweden. Already halfway into December, more copies of the model have been sold than during the entire month of last year.

In other words, the sales of the Tesla Model Y are going like the train, which becomes even clearer when you look at the lead to the second best-selling car in the country this year.
The runner-up Volvo XC60 has sold around 14,500 units.
Tesla Model Y was the best-selling car even in 2023, both in Sweden and globally.
