Sweden signs cooperation agreement with New York

The cooperation will take place within the framework of the USA’s partner program State Partnership Program (SPP), which cooperates with more than 100 countries around the world. Among other things, Norway has a collaboration with Minnesota and Finland with Virginia.

The purpose of the agreement is to increase the parties’ military capabilities through, among other things, joint exercises and participation in each other’s exercise activities.

– The agreement with the state of New York further strengthens defense cooperation between Sweden and the USA. It contributes to increased exchange between the Armed Forces and the New York National Guard, which increases defense capabilities, says Minister of Defense Pål Jonson, according to the government’s press release.

The New York National Guard will place a liaison officer at the US Embassy in Stockholm to support the collaboration.
