There was a relay in the World Cup.
Then it was a stable second place for the Swedish ladies.
Despite a world-class effort by Elvira Öberg.
Sweden started the World Cup premiere in Östersund in the best way – with a victory in the mixed relay. Hanna Öberg and Sebastian Samuelsson was what was behind that feat. But in the remaining competitions, no Swede even got a podium place.
After a break of a few days, it was time for the revenge-hungry biathletes to once again hit the trails in Östersund. During Wednesday, the ladies’ relay was on the schedule. In the Swedish team it was up to Anna Magnusson, Lynn Persson, Elvira Öberg and Hanna Öberg to perform for the day.

It started well for Anna Magnusson, with a first full shooting and a third place. But then it went downhill, and after three barriers she went down to seventh place as the worst. Linn Persson was able to drive Sweden up to fifth place despite a crash, before handing over to Elvira Öberg.
Öberg’s superiority
Then everything turned around. With flawless shooting and incredible skiing, Öberg was able to gain just over 40 seconds on first place Norway, and with that take over first place. When it was time for Hanna Öberg, Sweden had a lead of over 20 seconds down to Norway.

But in the last shot, Hanna collapsed. Four misses and an extra round made Norway’s Ingrid Landmark Dental violence could pass and take home the victory.
– She will tense up there. She doesn’t want to do that in those situations, says Björn Ferry in SVT’s broadcast.
Thanks to stable skiing, however, Hanna was able to secure a stable second place for Sweden. Germany came third.
On Thursday, it’s time for the men’s relay. It starts at 15.20 and is broadcast on SVT.
