The government is ready to evacuate Swedes from Sudan as soon as possible, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson announced on Friday.
– The situation is simply put, absolutely terrible, he said.
A power struggle within the military regime in Sudan degenerated into major violence on Saturday and has continued ever since.
On site in the country are, among other things, embassy staff with families and other Swedes.
Sweden is coordinating efforts with other countries, but it is not possible to carry out an evacuation from Sudan.
– We hope that will change very soon. Swedes on the ground are urged to continue seeking shelter as long as the fighting continues, said the prime minister.
