A 17-year-old convicted of murder could be acquitted in connection with a visit to the dentist.
The exemption is the second in a short time and the routines must now be reviewed.
On Wednesday, the Minister of Justice meets the media at the Sis home from where the 17-year-old was able to escape.
It was during last week that the armed release took place from a correctional transport in Södertälje. The release was made in connection with a dental visit and the 17-year-old convicted of murder is still at large.
Want to criminalize escapes
According to information to TV4 Nyheterna, it is about the young man who was convicted of the murder of Fredrik Andersson, 54, at the Delta gym. The release is the second in a short time, and both the government and the opposition take the incident seriously.
– Escapes are not illegal. We believe this is a system error, says Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M) at the press conference.
He further says that they want to change that arrangement.
Social Services Minister Camilla Waltersson Grönvall raises the issue of young people who have been sentenced to inpatient care being able to communicate with the outside world using mobile phones and tablets. There is an investigation into how to further limit that possibility.
– We are now making sure that this investigation is accelerated and proposals to be able to limit communication will be presented before the summer, says Waltersson Grönvall.
Transport stopped
After the two high-profile releases, the government has tasked the Prison Service with strengthening security during prisoner transport. They have also stopped all planned transports relating to medical care for prisoners.
On Wednesday, Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M) and Minister of Social Services Camilla Waltersson Grönvall will visit the Sis home in Södertälje where the released 17-year-old was placed.
Gunnar Strömmer says that the Prison Service has been tasked with reviewing the entire security around transport.
