At a press conference, the Social Democrats present measures to break segregation.
“We need a concerted offensive to break the segregation that is tearing our country apart,” says Integration and Migration Minister Anders Ygeman (S).
Segregation is pointed out as a breeding ground for exclusion, crime and unequal living conditions.
According to Ygeman, Sweden had for a long time a large immigration which, together with poor integration, created this problem.
Among other things, the Social Democrats want to introduce a state-owned property company that will acquire or build properties in vulnerable areas. S also wants language requirements to apply in order to obtain a permanent residence permit, for the ebo legislation to be phased out and the rules for labor immigration to be tightened.
Three-year-olds must be directly enrolled in preschool from the age of three.
— This means that from the age of three it must be mandatory for the home municipality to enroll children in preschool who have lived in Sweden for a short time or who have parents who have lived in Sweden for a short time, says Ygeman.
Some of the proposals have been presented before, others are completely new.
Sweden does not want any parallel societies, asserts S.
Tobias Baudin:
— These are our proposals so that an entire generation is not lost.
